DollS on Parade
My name is Stella Whittingham, 59 year old wife, mother of 3 and nana of 11, and I am a passionate crafter. I started crafting in my early 30's with various crafts and a small 'dip' into doll making. Unfortunately at that time there was very little in the way of 'help' so I floundered for the most part, not knowing where to get the advice and help I surely needed. My mum was an incredible influence and always said that I had talent and that I should stop flitting from craft to craft and research something I was passionate about. To my everlasting regret I didn't take her advice. Sadly my champion passed away in early 2003 so suddenly. But, by the end of that year, I had designed a handful of my own dolls, started the website with patterns for sale, and had a stall at our local market. Did I feel her sitting beside me through that time? Oh indeed, yes. And I do believe she is still around, putting forward an opinion or two. My work has been featured many times in some of our Australian craft magazines. And my dolls and I have travelled the world -virutally- through our worldwide customers. Thank you mum, and to the special people who purchase my patterns.
