The PATTERN includes a COLOR PHOTO ~ FULL SIZE PATTERN ~ COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS as well as THE BASICS~ my guide to working with wool to make lots of different penny rug goodies! It is my original design and is constructed of 100% wool and wool felt. It measures a full 14" in diameter and is up to five layers thick making it nice and sturdy. The design layer features six mottled red and black hearts separated by six burgundy and antique gold folk art flowers that are trimmed with moss green leaves. There is a three layer large "penny" in the center featuring antique gold ~ burgundy and a red layer. The designs are sewn to a camel tan wool background layer which is backed with a black layer that "frames" the design. You will use cream, moss green and burgundy embroidery floss to attach each design piece to the background with lots of EASY hand sewn blanket stitches. What a pretty mat this is! It would be the perfect addition to your penny rug collection to accent your primitive home! Make some for gift giving or selling at craft shows.
