Antique samplers have long interested me and I am often drawn to the intricate motifs found stitched into the old linen. Many times, the designs include flowers, hearts, trees and animals. These were the things found and experienced in the everyday lives of our ancestors. I have been inspired by some motifs found in the 1809 sampler, made by Nancy Batten, and have incorporated them into a new punch needle pattern. Though not an exact copy, the rendering is my expression of her design in this wonderful old sampler.
The approximate finished size is 4 3/4"W x 3 1/8"H.
